Making Momentum in Marketing

The start is allways hard, you believe how can you get others to believe as well. Off course there are tons of good examples of company's or community's that rigorously show us that they found the key. The social media entrepreneurs, apple, Ferarri and tons of other high end brands now a days that have created their momentum

The I want what you have factor
Is one of the binding factors behind these successes. Most of us are "group behaving" So to get a couple going is the most easy way. The power of you product is the level of satisfaction it brings and the visibility it has within your user group.

Again the first thing to do is that target definition where is your product and what exposure does it get while in use

Push the people that use it to the front of the room. Your customer needs to be visible and needs to attract the attention of the rest.

Momentum starts with one person, remember that. There are a couple of really good examples of "flashmobs" for instance that show how the group behavior is triggered and mass movement is initiated. The most important thing is that one leads, and that he cherishes his first followers - Putts them in the front of the room, or spotlight if you would. IT IS NOT ABOUT THE ONE THAT STARTS..

creating momentum Your role is the initiator of the better good, the momentum.

So what to do next. If it's not about me what the *f* should i pick up to get it started. Basically it's mainly about enthusiasm. Skills, knowledges not even KPI en USP's are that important. Your persuasion to get people to interact is. Enthusiasm drives people to come and take a peak and when you can put it as a very like able option to just join you create your momentum.

Most important:
It's one of the most forgotten elements. How is your internal momentum. Is everybody on the same page, are all the people aware of what is happening and where it is going. Perception management is one of the critical elements of the momentum. Feeling like a rockstar is very important.

Getting out there
Like mentioned, your role is just to get it started and reward, cherish and stimulate the first followers. A very social engagement is needed. No business just fun now, it needs only to connect to business at one point. But that is the easy part

Examples please: Heineken a famous beer brewer and dominant player in the worlds beer market landed themselves in the USA. They created momentum by ordering (not once but multiple times) Heineken beers at leading bars. Getting the talk into town, having the marketeer disguised as the ideal customer.

And then sales came into play. Getting Heinekens bottles on the bars.

Offcourse very very simplefied but exactly the point. It is social, it's highly circumstantial, and yes, with a no good of no use product really hard to pull off.

Try to get people to talk, I have experienced the guys from Layar one of the rockstar company's leading the app industry for mobile phones. And he got me, he got me talking about it.
